Morocco has created history by defeating Portugal by one goal to zero in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Football World Cup.

Morocco became the first Arab team to reach the semi-finals by defeating a strong Portugal team in the match played at the Doha Al Thumama Stadium on Saturday.

The only goal of the match was scored by Youssef Al-Nusiri in the first half to give his team a lead that remained until the end.

Portugal, without their star player Cristiano Ronaldo, defeated Switzerland by six goals in the pre-quarterfinals.Morocco had already won the tournament by defeating strong European teams like Spain and Belgium.

By defeating Portugal, Morocco managed to open new doors on the horizon of African and Arab football and became the first African-Arab country to play in the semi-finals.Morocco was supported by a large number of fans at Al-Thammama Stadium.

Before the match, Moroccan coach Waleed Al-Rakaraki said, “We have a whole nation, a continent and the Arab world behind us.”
