The world football emperor and legendary footballer Pele’s body has been moved from Santos Stadium to the final resting place and the burial will take place today.

According to foreign media, the last rites of the world football emperor and the legendary Brazilian footballer were performed at his home. His body was taken in a procession from the Santos Stadium to the final resting place where he will be cremated today.

A sea of fans thronged the streets to bid farewell and catch a last glimpse of the great footballer. In Santos, Pele’s body was brought from the stadium on a fire engine, someone waved the national flag of Brazil, someone prayed with moist eyes. Fans paid tribute to the King of Football by beating drums and clapping hands.

In addition to Brazilian President Lula, the FIFA President also attended Pele’s funeral. However, fans were disappointed that superstars Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Romario, Kaka and Neymar did not attend.

The great Brazilian footballer Pele passed away last Thursday at the age of 82.

The late Pele scored 1281 goals in 1363 matches in his 21-year career. He scored 77 goals in 92 matches for Brazil.

Pele was also part of Brazil’s World Cup-winning team in 1958, 1962 and 1970, and being part of 3 World Cup-winning teams is also a world record.

Pele was also named FIFA’s Player of the Century in 2000.
