Cristiano Ronaldo has the chance to reach his first final with his new club team, Al Nassr, if they can defeat Al Ittihad in the Saudi Super Cup semifinals on Thursday. Ronaldo made his official debut for Al Nassr in a 1-0 victory over Ettifaq last Sunday, playing the full 90 minutes.
The Saudi Super Cup is similar to the Spanish Super Cup, as it is played during the midseason and features the winners and runners-up of the previous season’s Saudi Pro League and King Cup. The tournament is a four-team event held in Riyadh, with two semifinals on Thursday and the final on Sunday.
Al Nassr earned their spot in the Super Cup as the third-place finisher in the league, as the vacant slot was filled by the next best team after Al Hilal won the league and finished runners-up in the King Cup.
The winner of the Al Ittihad vs. Al Nassr semifinal will face off against the winner of the other semifinal between Al Fayha and Al Hilal. The final will take place on Sunday at the King Fahd International Stadium at 9pm local time (6pm GMT / 1pm ET).
