Raphael Varane, the French and Manchester United defender, has announced his retirement from international football.

At only 29 years old, he has already achieved a great deal with the French national team, including winning the World Cup in 2018, the UEFA Nations League in 2021 and reaching another World Cup final in 2022. It has been suggested that the demands of domestic and international football have taken a toll on Varane, and he now wants to focus more on his club career and spend time with his family.

Varane made the announcement on Instagram, where he stated that representing his country for a decade has been one of the greatest honors of his life, but the time has come for the new generation to take over.
