Cristiano Ronaldo was seen working out with his Portugal teammates in Lisbon ahead of their upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers. On Monday evening, Ronaldo participated in a stretching session and did some light conditioning on the bike alongside his international colleagues. Later this month, Portugal is set to face Liechtenstein and Luxembourg as part of their journey towards the European Championships. Despite uncertainty surrounding his international career, Ronaldo has been selected to represent Portugal in the upcoming fixtures.
Many believed that Ronaldo would retire from international football following Portugal’s disappointing performance in the World Cup. During the game, he missed a late opportunity after his right-footed shot was saved by goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, which was among several missed chances for Portugal. The Portugal captain was visibly upset and was captured walking off the pitch in tears, leading many to speculate that his emotional response was linked to his retirement.
However, Ronaldo took to social media after the game to reassure fans that he was still committed to representing his country. He said, “Winning a World Cup for Portugal was the biggest and most ambitious dream of my career. While I have won many international titles, including for Portugal, my ultimate goal was to put my country’s name on the highest stage in the world. I remain dedicated to representing Portugal in any way that I can.”
