Cristiano Ronaldo combined two of his iconic celebrations as he scored two goals to help Portugal secure a 6-0 victory over Luxembourg on Sunday. The Portuguese superstar, who has now scored 122 international goals, usually celebrates his goals with either the ‘siuuu’ or ‘calma’ celebration. However, against Luxembourg, he combined both of them to the delight of the fans.

After scoring the opener just eight minutes into the game, Ronaldo ran towards the corner flag, ready to perform his signature ‘siuuu’ celebration. As he leapt into the air, he suddenly switched to the ‘calma’ celebration, which involves a hand gesture mimicking a sleeping motion. The crowd joined in the celebration, shouting the word ‘siuuu’ in unison, as Ronaldo grinned with joy.

Ronaldo’s impressive performance, which included a brace, confirmed that he will continue to play a significant role under new manager Roberto Martinez, who took over from Fernando Santos earlier this year. Despite questions over his international future after a disappointing World Cup campaign in 2022, Ronaldo’s recent form suggests that he is not ready to retire just yet.

Martinez, who praised Ronaldo’s commitment to the national team, said that the Portuguese superstar is an important part of his plans. Ronaldo’s selection for these qualifiers and his subsequent performances have silenced critics who speculated that his career was winding down.

In addition to Ronaldo’s goals, Chelsea loanee Joao Felix and Manchester City star Bernardo Silva also found the back of the net, as Portugal raced into an early lead. The victory consolidates Portugal’s position at the top of their World Cup qualifying group, and they will hope to continue their impressive form in their upcoming fixtures.
