He plays as a midfielder and comes from a Turkish background.He began his professional career in 2008 with VfL Bochum. In 2011, he transferred to Borussia Dortmund, where he made a significant impact. Gündoğan won two Bundesliga championships with Borussia Dortmund and reached the UEFA Champions League final.
